Entering or Leaving Active Military Service
Serving on active duty in the Armed Forces of our country can have an effect on your benefits provided by the Funds.
Plan Checklist
- Notify the Fund office when your active service will begin and is expected to end. Also, notify the Fund office when your service actually ends.
- Active service in the military is credited to the extent required under the terms of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA).
- To protect your rights under USERRA, once your active service ends, you should apply for reemployment with your employer or any other employer that is required to remit contributions to the Funds within the time period provided under the Act. (The time period is based on the length of your active military service.)
